I don’t know about you, but we here at the KAMPC are super excited for this summer’s blockbusters. Battling superheroes, gut-busting comedies and other cool films fill the calendar. Join our intrepid hosts Brian and Zach as they give their two cents on the films of the summer - recorded LIVE.

Thanks to all for a phenomenal second season. We have achieved a lot of great success and I personally cannot wait for season three. We will also be posting a July 4th summer special later on. See you next season!

KAMPC on TV: Sliders

We aren’t just monogamous with movies. We love other forms of media as well, especially TV. This week we talk about one of the best sci-fi shows of the 90’s: Sliders. Starring Jerry O’Connell and John Rhys Davies, the show followed the adventures of Quinn Mallory and his friends as they slide to parallel worlds with different histories, hoping one day to somehow return to their original Earth.

Brian and Zach give their favorite highlights and episodes, talk about the most agreed-upon jump the shark moment in TV history, and give a double dose of Shame.

Episode 35: The Incredibles

This week, the KAMPC ventures into new territory: animated films. And when thinking about animated ACTION films, nothing comes close to Pixar’s “The Incredibles”. A family of superheroes-in-hiding must escape the clutches of an evil supervillian named Syndrome. Not to mention there’s a ton of insane CGI animated action sequences and awesome music to boot. The movie proves that director Brad Bird (”The Iron Giant”) is a god.

Brian and Zach discuss the film, the great sequences, and announce some great news!

Episode 34: Point Break

Whoa! So Patrick Swayze isn’t going to die anytime soon. Phew. What can I say: we’re crazy for Swayze. In honor of the bad then good news, we at the KAMPC have decided to cover the 1991 surfing-meets-bank-robbery action thriller “Point Break”. Swayze plays a spiritual brah named Bodhi who has hanging ten and stealing cash on his mind. That is until Keanu Reeves, as FBI agent Johnny Utah, goes undercover to bust Bodhi and his gang of robbin’ surfers with a somewhat sane Gary Busey in tow.

Brian and Zach recap the film, reveal the Zen of Swayze and reveal their picks of the week.

CU Fancast 3: 80’s Commercials

80’s Month may be long gone… but we’re finding it hard to get over all the 80’s nostalgia. So Brian and Zach decided to do yet another College University fancast, this time on the coolest commercials from the 80’s. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll reminisce. This week, we venture out of the 80’s into… 1990. That’s when the first live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film was released. It was the height of the phenomenon which helped shaped the childhoods of our dear podcast hosts. So what better than to talk about the Turtles?

Brian and Zach quickly recap the first two films, lament on the crappiness of the third film, give their props over last year’s CG film and try their best to analyze Turtlemania.

But then a cool dude from the future named Rufus comes along with his badass time traveling phone booth. Now Bill & Ted can travel through history and experience it themselves. All to save their grades — and the future!

Brian and Zach dissect this excellent adventure, marvel at more 80’s montages, say goodbye to a truly bodacious 80’s month and wag their finger at their shames of the week.

80′S MONTH: Rocky IV

Think of this film not only as the fourth installment of the Rocky Balboa saga, but as a historical document. Anyone who has seen Sly Stallone’s memorable speech at the end knows that Rocky single-handedly defeated communism. Brought out of retirement to avenge Apollo Creed’s death at the hand of a vicious Soviet boxer (Dolph Lundgren), Rocky faces his biggest foe yet in Ivan Drago… and the Soviet Union. America, fuck YEAH.

Brian and Zach comment on the epic closing speech, the awesome 80’s ballads, MONTAGES GALORE, and subject it to the 80’s Movie Checklist.

80’s MONTH: The Last Starfighter

Most of us feel like playing video games won’t amount to anything in life. (And the others, well they’re delusional.) But one movie dared to ask… what if that space game you’re playing was really combat training? Alex (Lance Guest) finds out in the 80’s game movie classic “The Last Starfighter”, when he beats the high score on the local “Starfighter” machine and is then recruited to fight against the bad guys in space for real. Admit it, the kid in you is still saying “awesome”.

Brian and Zach recap the movie, laugh at Lance Guest’s next movie “Jaws: The Revenge” and countdown their five favorite 80’s arcade games. Also, check out the iTunes Comment Contest below.
